Diagnostic Port No Power

Hello all,
I wonder if any of you had this problem.
I recently put a 2 Bros pipe on my 00 RS and the dealer was going to upload a program so it would run correctly (it was running rich) anyway, they told me that they could not because there was no power going to the plug in port on the bike?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Big Dan

Welcome Big Dan
They wouldn't even do some basic troubleshooting for you?

First question - do your horn, turn signals & brake lights all work?
Those are all powered off the same fuse as that which feeds the Diag connector.
If none of those work either, then check the fuse.

If they do work, then you're only looking at one intermediate connector between the fuse panel and the diag connector where there might be a bad connection. The power should be on the orange wire.

I am with DEcosse in that I think the dealer should have been more helpful, mine certainly would be.

On a house keeping note, we ask all our noobs to please read the forum stickies it gives an idea of how we run things here.

Enjoy the forum,

I had the same problem on my RS. The voltage to the orange wire on the diagnostic plug was only about 8 volts, not enough for the tuneboy to operate. I can't figure where the fault is, but I can bypass it!

I simply opened the harness about 6" down from the plug, and jumped the orange wire to 12 volts. I put an alligator clip on a legnth of wire, and clip it to the battery when the tuneboy is being used. Works like a charm.

Thanks

Thanks for all the help, I sure appreciate it. I thought it would be some huge problem with the electrical system. Other then the no power everything else is great. Except the dumb A*@ who put my new chain on left the tire about 2 16th inch from the swingarm.
I will use the tricks to get tuned,
See you on the road...

About the chain and tire- Are you running stock sprocket sizes? If you've got an 18 front this will cause the tire to be moved further back in the adjustment range and the first instinct is to remove a link- bad idea. This might be okay with a worn tire but a new one will end up too close to the swingarm.
Is the chain loose?
Either way that's no bueno.
Have you called them?

Edit: Or are you saying the tire's misaligned? Then disregard.

Nice work. That is truly a classic BritBike bodge. Mr. Lucas would have been very proud.
