Keep 05 or Upgrade?

I have a banged up 2005 Sprint with about 18,000 miles on it. Still seems to run fine, but she doesn't look so good anymore. I also have an 07 675 that I do pretty much all of my riding on now. I do have a long trip planned over labor day with my dad that the Sprint would be great for. Plus I want to take my daughter riding with me once she is big enough and the Sprint (with the topcase on) would be much better for her.

The 675 is paid off, and the Sprint should be done next month. What would you guys do? I can trade both bkes in on a new Sprint and hopefully have enough to cover the full payment, or I could trade the Sprint in on a new one but be stuck owing on a large chunk of it, or I could just keep the banged up 05. What would you guys do?

Depend if you like to wrench and have the resources. Since you say the Sprint is "banged up" I suspect you do not enjoy working on bikes, and that is okay , therefore you might be best off trading.

You ask what would we do? If it were me, I'd keep both bikes and refurbish the Sprint. Those two make up a nice stable.

I would also keep both bikes. Your Sprint isn't that old and you own it--almost. Plus this isn't the greatest time for debt.

I would keep the 05 and fix up the banged up bits as you can. A major Sprint revision can't be too far off, (I Hope) at that time a new Sprint may make more sense.

I suspect it depends on your view and interpretation of Banged Up.

To me, most of the posters on here could take a[n] (almost) wreck and make it right again - me? I can just about tinker with the exhaust sealant OnD kindly suggested.

If you are willing and any 'damage' is light and or cosmetic, fixing it up with your daughter might be the thing to do
