Sprint ST 1050 & Trident Exhausts
Finally I have my 2008 Sprint ST with Trident exhausts well tuned.
The figures below speak for themselves.
Factory claimed values:
- Max. Power: 125bhp at 9,250RPM
- Max. Torque: 105Nm at 7,500RPM
Dyno Tests (Rear Wheel values):
Original factory standard configuration:
- Max. Power: 123.03hp at 9,400RPM
- Max. Torque: 103.17Nm at 7,600RPM
Trident Exhaust without baffles + Tune #20172 (wrong tune)
- Max. Power: 112.68hp at 9,400RPM
- Max. Torque: 97.91Nm at 7,600RPM
Trident Exhaust with baffles + Tune #20176 (correct tune)
- Max. Power: 113.9hp at 8,956RPM
- Max. Torque: 105.6Nm at 3,368RPM
Trident Exhaust with baffles + Tune #20176 (correct tune) + TuneBoy
- Max. Power: 121.7hp at 9,033RPM
- Max. Torque: 110.1Nm at 7,129RPM
Check the dyno sheets below

Actually I don't think that with the Tridents there is any increase in max. power but I find that totally irrelevant: never do I reach nor need whatever I have or had available.
What I do think to be important and highly appreciated is the remarkable increase in torque. The bike rides like pure magic!
With baffles on the sound is also fantastic: A melody!
Sum-up: I'm very happy!
Well done, Peter!
PS. Peter didn't give me any discount for me to write this. LOL

So, you lose HP and gain some torque with the non-factory configuration. My '08 with the factory setup feels a lot stronger than my '03 with a Powermax system and off-road tune did. Much more than the 7hp difference between the rated 118hp of the '03 and the rated 125hp of the '08. The '03 dyno figure was 115.Xhp at the rear wheel, but i don't remember what the torque rating was. I've never had the '08 dynoed.
But, it's all about the sweet sound of the aftermarket pipes.

Nice work on the torque curve. I like the way you have so much torque particularly in the low range.
I would have guessed that the Tridents would have dropped a little torque in the low end and made it up in the top end but you have proved that is not the case.

As elevens tried to explain in another thread, the horse power guys are barking up the wrong tree, unless they are at the Salt Flats. Torque is what we need for the street. Think of a lever.

This looks really good, JMV2006. I really wish I could have met you there to get the same treatment.
Once I get legal in Holland, will you be able to set me up to get the same tune for my Tridents with baffle?

Of course!
You just have to ask Ruud to set the same file on yours. Probably all he will have to do is just a few adjustments for no two bikes are exactly equal.
