Fluid Film Chain Lube

Is anyone using this product and what is your experience in this regard?

I normally uses chain wax, until someone told me that with this product you only have to re-lube once every 1200km. I am currently using Fluid Film, but is not quite convinced about the effectiveness of the product due to the fact that it is very thin.

Here is a link :

I've used the FF on several non-bike applications, and it works great. However, it dries to a rather thick, tacky film. It works good on battery terminals; I've used it on my cars.

I am a big fan of this product:

However, I don't know if you can get it where you live.

If it is sticky will just grab dirt/crud (which is like alot products out there). I'm with Pushrod though. So far, I've been pretty happy and satisfied with Dupont's Dry Film Multi-Use stuff! Dupont also has a product called Chain-Savr, which is geared more to agriculture/industrial usage and distributed thru those supply houses. I contacted Dupont, they said the 2 products are the same----just marketed different to different consumers. Multi-use can be bought at Lowe's Home Centers in the US

I use BelRay chain lube which you spray on. It gives good protection IMO but if you are over zealous it gunks up and the dirt clings to it. I just relube every 300-400 kms

I use whale blubber. It sticks much better than anything else, plus my dog likes it. He knows the neighbor's cat can't resist licking the chain, and then he traps the fuzzball in the garage.

mmmm whale blubber you say OND,

I've just been using butter, you don't need much and if you zip tie a piece of bread to the rear lhs indicator stalk it catches all the fling and saves putting butter on your sandwhich when you stop for a snack!

You should use a high quality brand like Dairy farmers or Mainland fro NZ is good too.

I used to use NZ silver fern export butter but as a chain lube it is just too exy now. It does taste great though!

I take it Chain lube is on your list too OnD , along with (which brand) oil LOL. I use the fat from non-baptized young boys and girls. I heard if you heat it up and drink it; you can fly.... er wait that was some cheesy horror film I saw when I was younger. "Warlock" I think it was, and I still want that hour and twenty minutes back of my life, LOL.

My gf is a vegan and completely green and allowed me to keep my motorcycle but would not allow me to lube with chain oil anymore. She found a solution that is a bit cheaper.

I collect all the ear wax from her and her crunchy friends in an old turtle shell and re-purpose it. By combining it with some warm water it forms a thin paste which I draw into a straw and spray onto the chain.

WARNING: Do not suck too hard on the straw or it will get in your mouth.

Hatchetman, You should switch to the Fluid Film then. It is mostly organic as well. We got the big low down on it when it came to NAPA and had some guy from the Fluid Film factory come up and do training. He got way to excited over a lanolin based lubricant, yes lanolin based. All natural my friend.

He was so bent on it I beleive he kept a can in the bedside drawer for ummm.... "emergencies".

Straw!

Hay, Hatchetman.
Don't let your gf see you using a PLASTIC straw to suck up the earwax chain lube!
I go to the beauty salon, collect the hairs on the floor, and make an organic brush to apply chain lube. If you run out of earwax, you can always use the oil from a teenager's facial acne.
Go Green!
