S3 Rear Wheel

Can anyone tell me if the S3 Rear wheel is a direct swap for the '05 + Sprint ST's?

Hatching a small plan here...

Cheers, G

Judging from the part numbers on bikebandit's fische. The axle and pins are the same for atleast the 2004 and up single sided swingarm bikes(Speed Triple and Sprint). I compaired 07 Sprint and Speed Trip, as well as 05 Sprint and 04 Speed Trip, all had the same part number for the axle stub assembly and mount pins. I still have my spare wheels from my '02 ST, but havn't tried them on my '08 yet. I'm hoping the rear will work, makes tire changing easier, heh

IIRC from when I wrecked the wheels are the same for the SSSA bikes are all compatible. In fact I almost ran a wheel from an 06 on my 99, but to change the front woulda been a big hassle so I didn't.

Hi Grae,

from what I can see on my '04 Sprint ST and my '04 Daytona they both share the same swing arm, but I think the Daytona has maybe a 6" rim as it runs a 190 rear as stock.

What are you up to Grae?:

Well Dave,

Hehehehehe :

After reading through DEcosse's most excellent thread on the front end swap, and figuring I could save a few pounds of unsprung weight by using the donor bikes entire front end (wheel, mudguard, brakes etc.) and agreeing with DEcosse that unmatched wheels would not look "right"... I began a search for some aftermarket wheels... found them, but they only listed a Rear wheel for the S3... hence my query...

But you will all need to be patient before the fruits of my labour (& searches) bear fruit...

I also need to pick DEcosse's brain for some more info...

Cheers, G :

05-07 S3 and Sprint Rims are the same. 08 the S3 changes to that beautiful black rim. From all I could find the 08 rim will bolt up too but the front will be a bit of a more challenge because of the USD forks and radial brakes on the S3, not to say that that wouldn't be a beauty of a swap.....

PS Triumph, if you are reading this: The Sprint is in dire need of the S3 rims and suspension/braking set up. Please pay some long overdue attention to the Sprint.

Thanks for the info everyone!

It has helped me make the final decision on what to do with the Sprint (was going to trade on an '09) but i'm going a different path now... let you know when it happens...

Cheers, G
