Just got back from a 450 mile road trip and I averaged about 55 mpg on my 00' RS!! Is this about right? By the way, I've had the bike for a month now and it's GREAT! Wish I would have bought one sooner... Hind sight 20/20 ya know...

Yes, the RS gets good mileage, though it does depend how you ride. I've always stopped to fill up after 300km (180miles?), so until last week I'd never seen the low fuel light come on. Last week I was out in the middle of nowhere when the light came on after 360km, filled up at 380km and still only got 17.3 ltres into the tank

So yes, I agree with you, the RS is a great bike, one that seems underappreciated by many people (including Triumph who dropped it from the range)

Rode to Panama city this last week.

Had one tank @ 56mpg and one tank @ 53mpg. That's going around 70 mph or so.

On the way home wicked it up to 80-90 and it dropped below 50 to 47/48.

I would say it's good mileage. As someone with an FJR what they get. most are less than 50. Same goes with the ST1300

I get 56 mpg from my 04 ST. I use it for work and do 25 miles either way on clear "A" roads. I do average speeds for clear "A" roads with no cameras.

That is pretty good compared to my old 1200 daytona (35 mpg best offer).

Sounds about like mine. Usually 52-54mpg. Two weeks ago on the trip to Barber I was pushing it and the wind was blowing 20-30mph. I got 48-50mpg.
Stock tall gearing, stock exhaust, stock tune.

My '01 gets 46 to 48, that's with the off road carbon pipe, different tune, and 3%CO adjustment.

From what I've seen on this site and the Triumphnet.com mail list, it is not unusual to see 50mpg or better on a stock tune. I averaged about 50 with my stock tune and pipe. However, when I switched to the Triumph CF can and updated tune and C0 adjustment I got about 40 mpg, until I fixed the fuel connectors, now I'm getting 45 to 47 mpg. Very good mileage for a bike of this performance.

Is something wrong with my totally stock 04 ST for the best I can get to a tank until the reserve light comes on is about 165 miles ?? Do I need some kind of fuel remap or something? I 'm having a hard time figuring out why u guys are so high & I'm on the low side. :brk: BTW on my ST I have 3000 miles on her since new & break-in wuz by the book

'04 RS...... 38 to 40 mpg with California gas & manic throttle abuse.

That's what I got on the BMW, the XL1200'S', and all other bikes prior to them.

I firmly believe it's my riding style that dictates my gas mileage. I have gotten considerably better, up to the mid 50's..... but as an exception, not the rule.
