Seeking alarm blanking plug for Sprint 1050

The factory fitted datatool alarm on my 2006 ABS Sprint has malfunctioned, and the warranty and expired two months ago..

New bikes ship with a blanking plug that is used to allow the alarm to be disconnected from the wiring loom and to be started.

Have you got one I could borrow/buy/beg?? I bought the bike pre-used and one didn't arrive with it. Still attempting to source one from a dealer but the plugs are not readily available.

Any related comments welcome.

Jeff, London.

Jeff,

Has your dealer pushed the fact that the bike is only two months out of warranty? usually Triumph, at least in the USA is pretty good about things like this if they are close to the warranty period. And try some bike breakers for the blank, or your dealer should be able to wire one up after looking at a sprint on the floor.

if you search, I posted about the alarm malfunction and blanking plug a while back.
Pics are a little poor .........but this is what your looking for
with a couple of wires and 4 male pins it might be possible to make up the 2 wires req`d

Basically my alarm malfunctioned 2 months out of warranty, however the dealer argued the point with triumph/datatool that allowed me to get a replacement datatool S4 for free. BUT they did fit the original alarm on the new bike pre-delivery to me.
I also made sure I got a blanking plug from the dealer the 2nd time around in case of future problems. it seems the alarm malfunction is a common problem, and warranty replacements arn`t unusual.

make a few phone calls to the other UK dealers to see if they got any lying around the workshop.
IF I`m off tommorrow I`ll give team roberts a call too and speak to the guys there

A quick look on Bike Bandit came up with the alarm shorting plug:

BikeBandit #: 5574762-001 $4.82

It's in the electrical chifes 7 lines down. If Bike Bandit has it on the OE chifes then so does Triumph. Your dealer should be able to provide that for you. If not order it off Bike Bandit.

PS: It looks identical to Pierre's post so it should be right.

Warning

Anyone getting an alarm installed by someone else ie a dealer should ensure they give you the blanking off part afterwards.

All dealers should give you the part after installation for the obvious reason you have now discovered.

cheers,
DaveM

Recently another forum member did me a favour, so I figure its time to restore the good karma balance and help another member

+1

I`ve said it many times, anyone with a datatool alarm, should have this item safely stowed away in the glovebox for that rainy day
