Matt Black Paint Problem

Hi a newbie here so please be gentle

I picked up a Matt Black Speed Triple back in may, and having taken the long way home, I was disappointed to find that where my legs had touched the paint was shiny.

I got the dealer to put in warranty claim, which Triumph turned down.

I've written to Triumph and they state that the paint is fit for purpose.

My question is, has any one else suffered this problem with Matt Black going shiny within 2 hours of purchase, or am I alone.

Apart from the paint problem I love the bike, miss the engine braking of the Aprilia it replaced, but have done 4000 miles without to much trouble.

Many Thanks

The tech spec pads cover the leg cut outs on the tank no problem, but they don't do anything for the knee panels below they tank where your legs typically touch when your not counter balancing.

Hopefully, a pad there would also keep the shop from scratching the hell out of my baby every time they go to take the tank off. I'm sure they could design a pad with a whole in its center just larae enough to still be able to yank the bolt out.

Anyways, I wrote tech spec about making an additional pad to cover this area. It looks like they do custom work, at least on occasion, so I'll let ya'll know with what they come back with.

My matte bike has not done it in 3500 miles or riding. But I am not the tallest or biggest guy, so my movements on the bike may not be so as hard on it as some?

That is Common :~( and one of the reasons i put the Techspec skins on before it had a Chance to even start! my bike has 300 miles on it LOL i have another bike a FZ1-N i ride to work!

One of the Buys on the FZ1oa site said his matte finished bike got shiny were his legs rubbed and that Nut polished the rest of the tanks so it matched LOL :~)

The matte finish getting Shiny were your legs rub it,is just the way it is!Triumph can't stop the matte Finish from going shiny it's Not there fault IMHO All matte finish's will do this!

Like they say Worry less Ride more!

Is the matte finish the same as the glossy sans clear coat?
