Crash Cage Design Ideas?

Anyone have any ideas on a crash cage for the speed triple? What do you think it should look like, cover, etc?

Ive been tryin to think up the best way to do this so that I can make up some plans for a welder friend of mine. here is what I have come up with so far:

Here is a crash bar that Jack Lilly is selling for the Tiger 1050. Id rather it covered lower on the engine. Ive already dropped my bike and the lower clutch cover cover hits first.

Thoughts?

I agree. You don't even have to put the bike down to scratch the clutch cover, just turning into a steep hill will do it.

Rather than just bolting the cage to the side of the bike, start it on the bottom of the bike like a belly pan and then have beams come up from there, almost like ribs.

It'd do a better job protecting the bike and it would look badass as all hell.

Care to draw what you mean? Go ahead and use that first pic up there. OR if you need a clean template to draw on (with MS Paint, lol), here:

The reason I had it mounted up high was because I wanted to use the sturdy engine mount bolts. What are some good strong places down low to mount to?

This is kind of what I was thinking. As you can see I don't have a single artistic bone in my body. Thought it be nice to protect the headers a bit more by the bottom bolt that the exhaust attaches to.

Even if you can't use that bolt, you could always just wield the bottom sections together under the headers to achieve the same effect

So basically just have the bar that crosses over the header be lower for better protection? I like it.

The belly pan idea has me thinking. I commute on my bike almost every day. Maybe i could get some sheet metal together for something like this skid plate:

That doesn't looks like it would do anything. The engine casing typically gets scratched well before the clutch casing does.

That one sits on the engine casing.
supposedly keeping the clutch casing out of contact.

This is something that could benefit a lot of Triple riders. I know there are some stunters who use Triples but I'm sure their cages (if they have them) are one off, custom jobs. If someone came up with a plan, I bet they could make some money selling these things. I'd buy one in a sec. My buddies stunt and they could literally drop their bikes with no scratches or damage if they wanted to. Could save a ton of money if someone had a spill.
