Carbon Fiber Belly Pan group buy?
A good friend of mine makes things out of carbon fiber and he explained he could make a good mold and create my belly pan out of carbon fiber for pretty cheap (less than $200). He also said if a bunch of people wanted to buy he'd do them for even less. So, would there be any interest here? They'd be for the 1050 S3 btw (not sure if that would fit on a 955i model)

^can do
Just trying to gauge general interest, I'd take some detailed pics of the first one before anyone was in the group buy of course. It would be a nice finished/glossy piece on the outside and the inside would be rough (kind of like a fiberglass piece). It'd be 2x2 twill pattern, the type you see on most automotive/bike stuff like below.

What about the quality of the carbon/resin? Good enough to minimize yellowing over time?
Talk about the timeline. I'd be VERY VERY interested in one for sure....no doubt, especially if you claim he can get them to us for under $200....he should make a killing!
Again, what time frame are we looking at here? Nail him down on that and report back to us? Thanks.

Epoxy resin = good stuff.
Polyester resin = discoloration with age and less resistance to heat discoloration.

Think that depends on the quality of resin. I've made loads of carbon bits over the years using polyester resin. Still got a few over nine years old showing no signs of discolouration.

Well time is money and while the raw materials dont cost nearly that much it is very labor intensive.. But yeah obviously he'll make some money thats the idea!
