Picked the bike up yesterday!!!

Hello all again......well i picked up theSpeed Triple yesterday and rode the 300 miles home....what a machine!!! Absolutely love it already! The previous owner put a Devil SB2 carbon race can on it, amazing sound from the motor!!!

I'm usuing the bike daily and have found a couple of wee issues i'd like to sort (with your help!!).

Firstly, i tried to post a "wantit" thread but for some reason access was denied??? Anyway i'm looking for a rear hugger to keep the worst of the salt and sh*t off the shock, can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get one (had a look on tinternet but seems to be newer models only they deal with?!)

Secondly, would you recommend a Scottoiler?? I've always just oiled my own chain after every ride but they have been around a while now and claim huge chain life extension?

Thanks all......

first question to your question is what year is the bike. I have found no issues in finding a hugger fender from many places. I haven't pulled the trigger in buying one yet but I know if you look on EBAY you can usually find one, otherwise Britich Customs has one. I am only speaking for 05+ triples.

As far as oiling your chain. Check the manual, my 07 is supposed to be oiled every 500 miles. However in one spot it says 200 miles and the second spot says 500.

Buy a good chain wax that will stay on and resist fling. A search of the forums about chain care or chain lube will produce lots of posts with people arguing which brand is better.

Thanks mate, the bike's a 1998 T509 model!! I'vegot decent wax at the moment so will stick with that but the huggers becoming a pain to find!!

Oh...my only suggestion for that is EBAY then. Or, post something in the classified section, maybe somebody is parting out one or knows somebody with one.

Good luck!

Or you can just give up and order one through the dealership. Mine took two whole weeks to arrive. It was the most expensive piece of plastic I've ever bought!
