Count me as another ebay sucker. I purchased a seat cowl for my 98 S3 and all I received was the plastic outer piece --- no innards and no way to actually install and use the beauty. I noticed another post from someone with the same problem. You gotta ask the important questions before you bid...
Anybody got a cheap solution beyond ordering the parts new (or have an old cowl to sell for the guts)? Ordering the new parts will negate the savings I thought I was getting...
You could do what I did. Find another full used cowl even if its the wrong color and switch out the hardware. Then sell the shell honestly to recoup your cash.
