hehe......make sure the emergency stop switch is on. I did the same thing when I first got my 01. The red switch needs to stay on all the time. Only turn the bike off with the key. I was told using the emergency off switch clears the ECU.

Hope that helps.

You should have an oil light if the ignition is on and the motor isn't running. If not, that's bad juju waiting to happen. Get that bulb replaced pronto. If that doesn't do it, it could be the switch or (ughhh) wiring gremlins. There's no Lucas parts on our bikes, right?

Correct. You should have Oil, Neutral and Engine management lights on, when you turn the ignition on.

I had the same problem, for some reason the oil light wouldn't come on with the ignition. Then the first time it rained, and the bike got all wet, it worked the next time I switched the ignition on ?? So after tracing down where the problem was, I was able to secure the wiring so it works correctly. This was after I pulled the whole instrument cluster apart to check the bulb.

I've since noticed also, that if I overfill the crankcase when I do an oil change, it won't work. Once the oil is at the correct level it's fine.

Strange I know, but I've got a Harley, so I've seen stranger!!
