Well, I'm about to pick up a shiny new black '05 tomorrow and obviously want to keep it that way. I'm thinking that some of the 3M type clear film protectant stuff would be a good idea around the back of the tank and inside the knee cutouts. Anyone have an experience with a good product? Something pre-cut would be preferable, but probably not yet available.

This is what Ive used on my last two bikes. Its the dog bollocks as the english say, and the customer service is excellent.

I'll third the recommendation for the Tankslapper. The only thing is that they do not list ALL the bike models they have on their website so you will need to either call or email them.

I used Sniders Paintguard on my tank. It's a little fiddly but you can cover whatever area you chose. I've only done the area under the tankbag so far. the knee cutouts are next.

thanks, that Sniders stuff looks like it'll do the trick since the Tankslapper isn't available for the 05 yet.
