My new (to me) '03 needs a new rear tire. The bike currently has Metzeler M1's on it. For now, I'm thinking of simply getting a new M1, but next time, when I need f/ and r/tires, what works well for decent mileage and handling?

I'm sure I'm either opening a can o' worms, and/or rehashing an old subject. If either, please forgive me. :-D

Yeah, tire threads are almost as bad as oil threads. that being said I get pretty good wear and performance out of Bridgestone 020's.

Recently, it seems the Avons are gaining popularity - good handling, excellent durability/longevity...

Michelin Pilot Roads have been long wearing and have good traction for everyday use. Since I don't ride aggressively, they handle fine for what I do. :hihi:

I tore up a pair of Pilots and in the wet towards the end of there life they were very scary, locking up all the time especially shifting down gears. Now have Bridgestone 010s on and very impressed with the hard centre medium edges with lots of traction in all weathers. Worth considering....

All the reviews I've read have put the Pirelli Diablos at the top of the list. One even gave them a 100%. I'm also interested in the Bridgestone Battlax's.

I'm on my second set of Conti Road Attacks. Solid handling wet and dry and I get about 6k out of a rear though I pushed the last one way past that. Cord at 7500. Mind I still have a chicken strip of about 3/8 inch on each side.
