Hi, all. I've been a member since July or so. I've searched the forums for some answers for my problem, but haven't found any. A month ago, I tried to start my '99 t509, but nothing happened. The hi-beam indicator lit up (hi-beam switch NOT on), neutral and engine check lights came on, but no crank, no headlights, no turn signals. The only indication of life was the clicking of one of the relays when the clutch was pulled. Following instructions from a search, I took the seats, tank, and body work off and checked all electrical connections. After reassembly, everything worked as advertised. Worked fine for a few weeks. Yesterday, after a quick run to the local superstore, the weird light show/ no start thing happened. I disco'd the battery, took the seats off and pushed all relays down into their sockets (none were "loose") and moved the diagnostic wire bundle around. Reconnected the battery, bike acted normal and fired up. Rode to another location, and... same annoying thing

. Got the bike running again, and while sitting at a light, just for $#!Ts and grins, I hit the hi-beam switch. The bike cut out. Same symptoms (no- start; hi-beam indicator light on). After shaking a fist to the sky (and cursing A-LOTTTTT), I switched the key off and back on again. Hi-beam indicator not on; bike fired up like normal. I went straight home and parked the Trip and jumped on my Sabre to finish what I needed to do. The hi-beam indicator won't come on (when the wieirdness happens) until the ignition key is in the on position. Once the indicator is lit, pulling the key has no effect with the exception of the mid-traffic cut out (???). Do I have a relay going toes up or something worse? Any insight is appreciated.
