07, cos I own one. Also cos it is just as fast and as good at stunting as the 09. The Nissin brakes will easily stand Speedy on its nose, don`t know why you would need Brembos?

the '09 of cousre, cuz I have one and you need brembos not to just get the rear end up but to actually flip over....
kidding of course, they are pretty much the same but the 'o7 will be a good bit cheaper

Put it this way if I could have found a new '07 now I would have scooped it up.

The 08-> Brembos are a non-issue as 2005 to 2006 GSX-R 1000 brakes can be purchased from eBay for under $100. They come with same Nissin master cylinder as 2008 Triples + Tokico calipers that well match the 2008 Brembo performance.

If I was looking to purchase a 1050 the brakes would not be anything I would take into consideration.

Basicly all 1050s from 2005 on are essentially the same bike. No chassis or performance upgrades that would matter have been done (actually the 2008 in stock form has weaker power on the low rev range due to emission standards). So it's all about one's preference on the visuals + the condition of the individual bike on offer.

Aren't the ECU's different also?

I thought the 08 has a different ECU than the 05-07's

Yes, from mid 2007 onward the bikes have the v2 Keihin ECU.

Only reported positive about new ECU is a bit easier starting from cold. My '05 has always started just fine without excess cranking, so not a big deal. Also the v1 ECU has much wider selection of custom tunes available, if TuneBoy is something one likes to tinker with.
