Jacket Quality Question

Hey guys
Did a search but not much came up. Looking to purchase a new leather jacket. Really wanting to stay under $450. Any thoughts on quality of ICON or Dainese? Both feel great when tried them on but I know nothing about the quality. Other suggestions would be great. Looking for something for spring summer and fall.
Thanks

I just got a Triumph jacket. I went to the dealer and selected one from their catalog. It's called the Genitec? model. It was $400 plus 10% off . I love it but they have many to choose from .

Dainese Laguna Seca jacket - $400 in Cycle Gear. Love it, outstanding quality and fit, ladies seem to notice and react positively... It's perforated, good for temperatures up to 90..95 (so far no problems with Georgia heat). In the cold spring/fall riding conditions wind blocking underlayer should provide extra warmth (no liner, and that's what I wanted).

For winter and cold riding I have Furygan Crest jacket. Great looks and quality, and nobody seems to have another like it. The only US distributor is Van Ellis, cost approx. $420.

Some of the Triumph jackets are really nice and they are good quality. Alpinestars also have a nice range of jackets and I can vouch for the safety and quality of their TZ-1, as I've crashed while wearing one. I smashed my elbow (among other things) hard onto the road and came out without a mark on me. It would also fit your budget, as it seems to sell in the US for $279. Other Alpinestars options would be the TX-1, RC-1 or even their Alloy jacket.

Hawk triumph Jacket

I have worn Alpine Stars, Teknics, and I have to say that the quailty of this Hawk Jacket by Triumph is incredible. Weight of the leather is equal to most the Dainese Jackets I tried on and the fit is just right. Took about a week for the collar to relax. Has a high neck collar. Anyways, got at Dealer was 399 and the dealer gave me 18% off. Very glad to have waited.

My three recommendations would be Dainese, Triumph, or Vansons. They all have jackets that fit in your range and are all excellent quality.

I've had a lot of jackets over the years, usually of poor quality due to budget constraints. Last time I bought a new one I did a lot of research, and ended up buying a Dainese. It has the armoured shoulders and elbows, is of visibly better quality than most of its competitors, and it still looks like new after a good few years.

I was so impressed with the quality that I subsequently purchased a Dainese 'summer jacket' after moving to Arizona. It's made from the same breathable "holey" material as an ice hockey shirt, and has elbow, shoulder and back protection.

So I'll admit I have strong brand loyalty to Dainese, but they've really earned it. I wouldn't buy anything else, and I definitely reckon it would be worth going a little bit over-budget to get one.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide to get.

Cheers!

Hey
Thanks for the advice. Right now I am looking at the Dainese Luguna Seca and the Zen. Also some of the ICON jackets, the Accelerant and the Retro Daytona. I like the weight of the Dainese Luguna but they have the Zen for $29 more. Can't decide.

Well, got the Dainese Laguna Seca and really like it so far. Will probably save some money and get the ICON Accelerant for colder riding.
Thanks again for the replys

+1 on Dainese, but BOOO! to Icon. Our shop actually stopped selling it as we had so many returns due to ripped seams, stuck zippers, ripped off buttons, etc. Yuck. Sorry, had to vent
