Interested in getting this center stand for my S3. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...tview/323/243/

Going for $199.00 rught now and I think that is less then I saw it going for before.

I think this has been addressed on here before, but just curious if anyone else has got one on thier S3 and also, whoever had it before, is it still working without any performance/other issues??? Any input/pics would be appreciated.

Mine is in the mail en route to me. I'll post up some pics and my thoughts when it arrives and I've got it installed. My only complaint so far with twistedthrottle was that I had to backorder it and waited 4 weeks for it to arrive.

kuhlka,

Cool. I am very close to purchasing one and your input (and pics), once you have it installed would be greatly appreciated.

Ken

I got it in the mail today and installed it. If I had better directions, I might have been able to put in on in around an hour. Instead I had to do a lot of guessing and messing around because the drawing was backwards. After I got it all together I popped the bike up onto the stand to do some more undertail body work and think I've got a new design that will give 4x the trunk space in the undertail and look quite nice. I'll have to do testing after the undertail is bolted on and the tail light is integrated to know if there are any clearance problems.

If anyone has any problems installing the stand just drop me a PM, email, or IM and I'll take you through the installation steps.

kuhlka,

Looks great!!!! Any issues with chain rub when the stand is up or the stand hitting the ground during cornering?? How stable is the bike when it is up on the stand??? I am pretty much ready to buy as we speak................

Thanks
Ken

The bike is really stable when on the stand. My only issue at this point is that my chain is really loose right now so when the stand is all the way up, the chain rests on it. If I had just a few milimeters of adjustment it would probably be up off it. It may not be an issue when the bike is being ridden since the chain will gain some tension.

I'll post again later after I've ridden the bike. I'm getting a dyno run done tomorrow, but may have to cancel if the roads are covered in snow and ice. Go away snow!

The dyno turned out good so far. The bike sounds different, but that is probably because it was running around the 18.0 range for fuel/air and now it is where it should be around 13-14.

I haven't noticed the chain rubbing the stand. I think the chain tension increases when I sit on the bike and when it is being driven. I don't have any scrapes where the chain rests on the stand when parked, so I'm assuming that is correct. I still need to either replace or tension my chain though. I didn't bother to clean it for 3000 miles over the winter and it has some links that are sticking. If I get a new front sprocket with one tooth down, I'll probably just get an extra chain while I'm at it.

Everything is so far so good though and I'm very pleased with the purchase. One of the best things you can put on the bike.

I've had one (motech c/stand) for four months and it's GREAT! Absolutely no issues whatsoever. No interferences, no grounding, durability and ease of use are easily equal to an OEM stand. And it makes maintenance and cleaning so much easier.

My only "beef" is that the stand comes standard painted black so it is, shall we say, "visible" in contrast to my aluminum colored frame. One a black-framed bike it would be invisible. So I guess I'm gonna have to have my frame powder coated black....
