Metzeler Sportec M3 on S3 2007

Has anyone tried running the a 2007 S3 on the tyres recommended for the S3 2008 ie Metzeler Sportec M3s? Have you found any difference on the road compared to the Michelin 2CTs previously recommended for the 2007 S3?

I rode the 2008 S3 with the Metzeler M3s and found the handling slightly sharper compared to my 2007 S3 with brand new Michelins on and wondered if the tyres made any difference.

If you phone triumph they are now saying that they are now recommending the Sportec M3s.

I am on my 2nd set of M3's after 2 sets of M1's. You cant go wrong with these tires. Very confidence inspiring, and the rear will last 4500+ miles.

I still have the original Pilots on my S3. But, I overwhelmingly hear that the Pirelli Diablos are best.

I have the M3`s on my 675. They`re certainly as good, if not better than the pilot powers. I`ve yet to see how long they will last, though.

Metzeler Sportec M3

I highly rate these Metzeler's. Been running them since I wore out my 2CT Michelin Powers and would say they are a better tyre overall. Grip really well and heaps of warning if they are going to let go (unlike the Michelins), warm up really quickly and seem to really suit the Speed Triples steering. Another bonus is they are cheaper than the Michelins, I put another rear on this morning for $260AUS fitted and balanced.

Also for anyone interested in Aus, (Brisbane), 2 Wheel Tyres have a special on Pirelli Dragon Corsa for $440 fitted. Another excellent tyre but then Metzeler and Pirelli are pretty much the same thing so same rubber.

Switched from Met's to Michelin, like Michelin better so far...

Recently switched from Met's to Power Pilots. Supposedly better wet characteristics (don't know yet).

Pilots dropping into corners so quickly is scary at first (in a good way) if you're not used to it (due to Pilots sharper V-profile, offering NOTICABLY quicker, more aggressive cornering, vs. Met's O-profile). But [Michelin] man, been using Met's FOREVER and plan on sticking with Power Pilots if they continue such great cornering.

Alot of people I spoke to say Pilots last longer than Met's too, yet are stickier on corners. (Not to scare anyone off, but be advised: some 2007 Michelin Pilots made in France were recalled last year. Mine are newer and made in Spain.)
