400mi broken shifter shaft

Hey new to the forum. Just bought a 08 speed triple a week ago and already have a broken shifter shaft. Ride bike for a week, down for two to fix it. dealer says it was a poorly machined part. just curious if anyone else has had this problem?

Same thing happened on my '07 (at about the same mileage).Luckily I was stuck in 3rd only a few miles from home.Was it the shaft that broke or the bellcrank from the trans? My bellcrank was stripped out at the linkage end. Safety-wired it for about a week while waiting for parts and wired the new one "just in case". I told the dealer that it looks like it was cast out of cheese.

I was stuck in 4th with my girlfriend on the back. that was a fun ride home. how long did it take them to get your part? mine is being shiped from the uk and will hopefully be to triumph in atlanta the begining of next week. then they will ship it to the local dealership. hopefully it will be back together soon.

The one of the teeth on the shaft broke. From what i was told there is two teeth. witch ever tooth allows you to downshift is the one that broke off. but they found it in the bottom of the sump.
