Padock Stands

Hello All,
I am new to Triumph after 30 years of riding Jap machines I have finally bought a British bike. I have bought a 2003 speed triple. I would like some advice re paddock stands, which do you recommend and what should the pin size be.

Many thanks

I use Triumph's own stand for the rear, they come up on ebay frequently for about half the price of a new one from Triumph dealers. Solo operation is ok but you need to take care with it.

As for the front, my 'universal' front stand from Micron, which uses two parallel shafts which lift under the fork legs, doesn't work due to the radial caliper mounts.

Suspect it will need a stand that lifts under the yoke for the front. What are others using?

I have Pitbull stands for both the front and rear. great quality, very stable. don't know the pin sizes.

I have the reversible rear stand (can be used on either side of the bike, depending upon what you're doing to it.

I also have the newer front stand that lifts the bike up from the lower triple tree so you can remove the forks for fork oil changes and such.

I have no experience with the ABBA stand, but one advantage I could see is that you can support the rear of the bike, allowing you to dismantle the rear (for example, for rear bearing service); however, I was able to do this by simpling using a scissor jack under the rear dog link.

I use a T-Rex stand. T-Rex lists them on eBay for about $80 or so. Works from either side, and it permits rotation of the raised wheel for chain maintenance.

Thanks guys, I have decided to go for the ABBA stand as it seems to offer main stand like versatility in a single package. I picked up the new bike today, done about 100 miles, what a great machine, sweet engine. Only a couple of minor snags,
1. The seat is not very comfy. Will the gel seat help?
2. At speed over 100MPH the bars seemed to oscillate fairly gently, is this normal?

theres a previous thread about seats, have a look.mines comfy between fuel stops,im 10st.can get a wiggle if your pushing hard.do you have a fairing.mine came with no fairing and it was hard to hang on at high speed so i put a skidmarx fairing on and can crooz at the ton easy but it does make the front light.
