Polishing Black engine covers?

My clutch cover, starter cover, ect is turning a very flat black almost grey color, i have tried alot of different kinds of polish and wax and nothing seems to work, is there anyway to shine them up or make them a deeper black?

thanks,
Chris

Anything with silicone works well, household furniture polishes like mr Sheen, or even WD40. I use a cheap silicone lubricant spray, because the dirt doesn`t stick to it and you don`t have to bother buffing it like you do with polishes. I just spray it on, don`t bother wiping it, it gives the engine a great finish.

None of the above. Get yourself a can of S-100 Engine Brightener. My 7+ year old cases look like new. It is awesome stuff!

I use the S 100. The best I have found.

My answer is All of the above. S-100 Engine Brightener works great if you don't want to bother with washing your engine, but the silicone way is definitely cheaper, while getting a new look and protecting things. I typically use Silkolene Pro-Prep or Dupont Silicone spray.

Try the stuff Triumph recommend; Motorex 645 Clean & protect. 500ml cans sell in the UK for about GBP7.00. I use it on almost all of the bike and it really shines for no effort at all. Especially good on the engine and wheels.

If you're even a little careless near the brake discs, when spraying the wheels, it's much worse than even WD40! Spray it onto the rag first, then wipe over, as even a small amount of overspray is noticeable!
