Hi Turbo,
I've replaced my stock bars with Rizoma fat bars (along with new risers and grips). For me Its makes the steering a lot more comfortable and a little more ridged almost as if you have a steering damper. I highly recommend the fat bars, not only this but they sure do look good too!

Could you compare the ergos of the std bars with the rizoma ones please?

Ergonomics is related to performance, at least in a broad sense. If you replace bars with identical ones in a different color, then obviously they have no functional bonus. But even a bar with a slight difference in shape can serve for better comfort on longer trips. Of course, clip-ons and other bars that put you much further forward allow you to ride faster and hang off more easily that the standard bars. I use standard bars on the track, and it takes a lot more effort to lean forward for speed and to hang off for more cornering clearance. That's why sport bikes (and racing bikes) are configured the way they are.

I have the Rizoma standard bars, which are a few degrees more forward than the stock bars. I don't know how the fat bars compare.

I've got drag bars on my 05 S3 and really like them. Tried clip-ons and didn't feel right. The drag bars make the bike feel a lot more nimble, controlable and comfortable in my opinion and would suggest it 100%. The clip-ons seemed to aggressive to me but some do like them.

I have Triumph fat bars. shape and hence ergos are exactly the same, however bars feel more solid, more rigid, seem to have less flex.
I replaced them mostly for looks though.

In the off-road world fat bars are all the rage for the reasons mentioned above. Im curiious as to how drag bars differ from the stockers?

I replaced my bars purely for looks. I have the Rizoma Conicals with the 30 mm riser and the grips, etc. I did notice that the position was not as comfortable. But I need to change the angle.

But, you can change the bars for comfort reasons as well. Perhaps with a wider position or perhaps a different rise. There are a lot of good reasons to change the bars.

The drag bars I have are flat with about a 2 or 3 degree inward kick for the controls. They don't have a rise on them like the stockers. Much more comfortable for 5'10" plus guys or thoes used to "supersport" bikes like myself.

I can take some pics of them if u are interested
