evans cooling systems(fluid)

anybody use this stuff? i guess its available at "some"of the napa stores. suppose to have a boiling point around 400 degrees. no water in it, never need to change again. its spendy but could pay in the long run. would you need to change thermostat? or is engine ice good enough?

I believe that evans is really thick and requires changing of the rad cap to a lower pressure one...could be wrong though. I just changed over to engine ice...so far so good. I haven't ridden in any hot weather so I have yet to notice a real difference.

I've had the same Evans NPG+ in my bike since Nov. '04, and it looks like i put it in yesterday. The cool stuff about it is there is no internal corrosion because there is no water. My bike also used to spew coolant after sitting in traffic. Not any more. I recommend it. You gotta use the Prep fluid to remove traces of water the first time.
Oh yeah, you don't have to change the cap.

spring

the guy at napa(instructions) said you have to remove the spring in the cap because its a pressureless system. SPEED3 , you say you dont have to change the cap. do you mean you dont have to remove the spring?

I think the guy at Napa is uninformed. Go to www.evanscooling.com and read the FAQ's. I use the NPG+ which has the same consistency as Antifreeze, and I didn't have to remove any spring.

Is it approved for trackday use or you have to replace it with water?

They have a version that is approved at SOME tracks.
Heisrisen, the instructions state to replace the cap & make no mention of removing or otherwise altering the spring. Evans has a LOT of words on their site, but unlike Water Wetter, no MSDS, so you don't know whats actually in it. This pins my BS meter...

I'm not sure how it improves the performance or changes anything, other than it's nice that your dog won't die if he laps up a spill. The thermostat still opens at the same temp, the fan kicks on at the same temp & the engine was designed to run within that range. Older engine designs doubtless have issues with steam pockets & poor cylinder head cooling that COULD benefit from either Evans or Water Wetter. The Speed Triple is a pretty modern design & isn't in a very high state of tune; maybe someone can explain it to me?

Hopefully everyone knows that Water Wetter, while an effective coolant isn't anti-freeze! We actually have a frost advisory tonight, & have had freezing temps in June, so it's for track days only around here!

It may not be any better than anything out there. But the thing I like is that it stays looking clean after3+ years. And the NPG+ does have Glycol in it. It also stays inside the engine when it is running hot, instead of spewing and marking it's territory.

FYI:
I'm currently using 75% distilled water, 25% propylene glycol (safe for alum) antifreeze and Water Wetter. The bike does cool very well when moving. On a cool day I'm always at 5 bars unless in traffic, then it usually ups to 6 bars and rarely 7 bars - only if it's a really hot day in traffic.

Question hey,speed three

I like the idea of not having to flushout and buy new antifreeze every year. your testimony sounds great! so, you didnt have to do anything besides ues the flush fluid then add the blue stuff? did you take the overflow resivior out to clean it? or did you just dump some of the flush stuff in it ?
