08' Seat cowl. Need someone to check something

Anyone with an 08' and seat cowl installed. Can you check under your seat. There should be 2 threaded holes at the very rear of the seat. Do you have something screwed into these holes that the cowl mounts on/into?

MY dealer just called and Triumph has sent them a new seat and new cowl for me. It still doesn't line up. But when they were checking the catalog they said there should be a rear fill piece that bolts to the rear underside of the seat. This piece was missing in my seat cowl kit when I picked up the bike. They are waiting to hear back from Triumph on when this piece will be deliverd.

So if anyone can verify this fill piece is on their 08 with a seat cowl that would be great.

Thanks

There are 2 threaded holes to the rear of the seat but on my 08 they are nought to do with the securing of the cowl.

The seat strap is unbolted from under the seat and removed - this reveals a threaded hole on either side of the seat that a chrome Allen bolt threads into (should have come with the cowl).

The cowl has a lip at the rear that slides under the seat and the side holes in the cowl marry up the the threaded holes on the side of the side (if that makes sense) - then screw the Allen bolts into these side holes - be very careful as these do not align fully, you may scratch the paintwork but the plastic cowl does give a bit and any minor enlargement of the bolt hole in the cowl is hidden by the head of the Allen bolt - hope that is all as clear as mud.

I would add that the holes do not marry up exactly and you have to compress the cowl up against the seat - I did this against my lounge carpet and settee and some help with another pair of hands.

I have subsequently bought a gel seat and that was worst - I understand Triumph are aware of this and are doing something about it - so they say.

I hope that may be of some help.

So on your cowl the two rearward screw holes are exposed and nothing is screwed into them? My dealer is under the impression from speaking with Triumph that there is a piece that is to be screwed into the seat to align the cowl properly. Hopefully I'll find something more soon from them.

Thank

Don't know if these are of any help - the cowl is now fitted to a gel seat but exactly the same fittings as the stock on the '08.
