Caring for matt black bikes?

I really like the look of the matt black but am not sure how to clean it. For instance; can you wax the bike?

My dealer is trying to convince me to avoid the matt black but it might be because there's none left in Sweden.

Anyone with experience of a matt black bike (or car) please post some advice!

I have a Bonnie with matt black most things. I'm afraid I'm not a cleaning fanatic so I can't help with waxing but I find that plain old cold water and a sponge mitt keep her good enough for me.

you CANNOT wax matt black finishes.
just wash with normal car/bike wash and you are done...

I read (Somewhere on the Triumph's web site.) that you clean the flat black just the same as you would clean other paints. Nothing on waxing though.

I have a matt black s3 and just wash it with standard bike cleaner then wipe dry with a chamois cloth. No waxing necessary so it saves the extra 30 mins+ you'd spend doing that

It's a nice finish, maybe s/he wants it? Wash/ dry with soft cloth (not to scratch). Dry quickly (to avoid water spots).

First scrub with sand paper and then rinse with some nice blue paint. Now see your bike looks twice as good.

Well, you can, it`s just that they won`t be quite so matt afterwards!

Someone once told me they had a matt black Ducati Monster and the tank was covered in stains from gasoline dripped whilst he was filling up. Don`t know if it will be the same with the speedy.

The traditional way to do it with ratbikes (and I've owned a few of them) was to keep a couple of tins of matt black paint in the shed and apply a nice new coat of paint each time they got realy dirty.
