Time's running out and I need a bike!!!

Well, my bike's been in the shop for 2 weeks. Awhile ago, I posted about a CEL that wouldn't go away. Bike ran fine, but light came on and stayed on, even after the prescribed 3 heat cycles. Well, about 3 hours from the house a couple of weeks ago (yup, it's never down the street...) Speedy started back-firing and surging really bad. The bike died and absolutely wouldn't restart. Not like it would turn over and not fire. It just wouldn't do anything. The starter button my as well not even been there. Luckily, I was on the way to the dealer (the nearest one).
Long story short, the dealer was really busy but graciously agreed to diagnose the problem ASAP and get back with me. I had to ride the Aprilia home (shucks )
It's been two weeks and the service dept. has been great - keeping me in the loop, but just haven't been able to find the fault. The say they're getting various diagnostic codes that "dont' make sense", i.e. don't appear to be correlated (fuel level sensor, MAP sensor, speedo sensor, etc), but so far haven't found what the specific problem is.
I'm pretty laid back - I really don't get mad that often. I didn't buy the bike from this dealer so I don't feel like they have any obligation to me. They've already been really nice and upfront with everything - so I'm not upset.
HOWEVER, my wife and I are RIDING to Miller MSP for the WSBK races in 2 weeks from our place (about 1600 miles, one way). I still have no bike.
Should I try to take it to another dealer, even farther away? Should I stick it out with this dealer and see what happens? Should I call Triumph HQ and see if they'll trade me straight up for an 08 Blazing Orange Tiger?
My friends have offered donor bikes (an SV650 or a ZX11) so I won't be completely w/o a ride - but I was really excited about taking the Speed Pickle to Miller.
Anyone have any ideas that might speed up the process w/o making me feel like a twat? I'm really probably too easy going (Texan) so I don't intend to complain, unless something comes up that the 2 year warranty won't cover. Just looking for a way to get my bike back for the ride.

Tell the dealer that, while you appreciate their troubleshooting, you really need to get it fixed/ road tested asap to make this planned trip. If they can't fix it in like 1 or 2 days after that - they had their chance, take to another dealer. Hope this helps!

You didn`t say if this is a warranty claim or not? Most dealers don`t like warranty work because Triumph are very tight about paying for it and have 'menu pricing' on which to pay the dealerships eg If a particular job takes an experienced mechanic 2.5+ hours to do, Triumph have a set rate of 1 hour for it.
In busy workshops warranty work tends to take place during down time or between paying customer`s jobs.
They are probably reluctant to spend days trying to diagnose a problem only to find out that Triumph will only pay them 1 hours labour for it. This would explain why they have had your bike for 2 weeks and still haven`t fixed the problem. You can bet your butt they haven`t had someone working on it for 2 solid weeks!
If this is the case, try to find a quieter workshop that can give it their full attention.

Not wanting to make you feel worse about the situation, but "awhile ago" would have been the better time to have a shop start diagnosing the problem. Three run cycles will only extinguish the light if the fault causing the indication has cleared; if it stays on, there's an ongoing problem that you most likely need to know about.

Multiple intermittent fault indications, such as they're apparently seeing, strongly indicate a wiring or connector problem. One very bad connector at a crucial point can do it. So can a loose ground connection. In rare cases, it may be the engine management module itself. I hope they or another shop will check those possibilities promptly, so hopefully you can take your preferred bike on the ride.

Best of luck.

Thanks guys!
I've contacted another dealer, another 3 hours from the dealer that the bike is at now. He promised me he could look at it ASAP, but couldn't guarantee getting it fixed if it needs parts he doesn't have in stock. Understandable. Problem is they're closed on Mondays and he offered to meet me there anyway, except that he's actually out of town until about 7 pm, which wouldn't put me back here until 1:30.
I tried to get the bike looked at as soon as the CEL started coming on, but no local shops would look at it and the nearest dealer is a half day away. Anyhoo, I'm gonna take a day off on Tues and see if I can't get it picked up and transferred to another shop. I think it should all be warranty work as it sounds like something electrical for sure (MAP sensor maybe), but the gas for hauling it gonna cost me hundreds!!! :P
