Head Vibration

Hi Yall

Something strange at the weekend that I have never experienced before. But I have only done 1000 miles on my 06 S4.

At about 100mph with a slight headwind I gat a massive vibration. So much that the road ahead was a blur. I had to slow down to under 70 before it went away - I thought the bike had a major problem. This happened a few times at the end of a 100 mile journey.

I got my head down and it seemed to go away. So I am guessing it was just wind coming over the bat screen.

Anyone else experienced this.

I wear an Arai RX7 Corsair if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Mike

What's the vibration coming from, your head, the bars, the bike? It's pretty normal on a naked bike for your vision to go to crap at 100+, and it definitely doesn't improve as you approach 150. Even on a calm day, your face is taking on 100+ mph winds at these speeds.

If it feels like your bike is getting wobbly, you might have some other issues to consider. Death wobble is no joke!

Either way, when you're going fast, position your body for speed. Get streamlined and don't sit completely upright and it'll help keep your head steady, so you can see. When I'm trying to top out and am heading towards maximum speed, I usually am flattened out as much as possible on the tank, with my head real close to the tank and bars. (Note: this probably isn't safe, but if you can't see anything, you have to do something to mitigate it or slow down)

It could be your helmet. I have topped the bike out a few time sitting almost all the way upright and I did not have this problem. I wear a Shoei RF-1000 though.

The low mileage on your bike is probably contributing to the lack of neck muscles thus the head shake.
