broken foot peg bracket

Brilliantly, I managed to drop my bike at the gas station a few weeks back back. I thought I got away with just scrappin the bar end and breaking the passenger foot peg bracket, but it turns out I also broke the front one too (right/brake side). I found this out while doing my first track day, which was not fun!! Fortunately it's still being held on by the other bolt (and tech inspection wasn't overly thorough). I can live without the passenger peg for awhile, but does anyone happen to have a front bracket laying around, maybe from a rearset swap, for an '03 S3 (I'll even buy both sides so you don't have to break 'em up if that's easier)? I'd love to use this as an excuse to buy some Sato/LSL/Rizoma rearsets (I did really enjoy the track day), but not sure it's in the budget right now. Thanks.

I had the same piece break on my '04 and bought just the bracket from Bike Bandit:

CONTROL PLATE, RH 5570200-001 | Triumph SPEED TRIPLE FOOTRESTS & MOUNTINGS (SERIAL NUMBER 186151 AND HIGHER)
1
$78.72
Shipped

You might want to look there. I thought the answer would be the LSL's because I really liked them...just couldn't justify the $$$ right then.

similar situation

while putting my 07 spdtrp on my wet trailer... slid on the ramp and dumped it with more drastic results... it shattered the right foot/brake bracket (5 pieces) and punched both right side brackets on the heat shield into the radiator... cost $ 750... kept the old radiator and had it braised for a backup... the point is that the cast aluminum parts are very fragile and in my experience has a inferior finish.. I had the bike in central america for 8 mos and the all four brackets became totally corroded with deep pitting from the ocean air... what I did is removed the brackets and sanded the finish smooth and primed it with krylon engine block primer and finished it with krylon egg shell black...looks very good...did the same on my heat shields on the exhaust cans... almost matches the engine powder coated finish... but back to the subject ... when this happened last spring... there were very few replacement parts in triumphs atlanta warehouse... at least for my VIN model 1050... one radiator and 2 brackets...so if you can get ahold of used brackets or on the cheap get some back ups

that's a good point. and i was a little surprised/annoyed that a very low speed tip over broke both frnt and rear foot peg hangers, especially since the pegs themselves folded uo like they were designed to! i've actually found a guy who can weld aluminum (i assume i can weld a cast piece... can't i?), which will work for now, but rearsets are looking like the best long term solution.

I had the identical misfortune when the wind from a life-flight picking up my riding buddy knocked over my bike... the bracket holding the right footpeg broke in four places, around the bolts!

A talented friend of mine welded it up for me, said the original casting didn't look very strong... I figure, his weld-job probably made it stronger than the original part! He sprayed a bit of silver paint on it, can't really tell it was altered... the rear-sets may still come later, though.

Crap metal

05 Speedie & one day I looked down to see that part of the mounting bracket had gone west Foot peg still holding by the pin & all the parts still there luckily
Ordered a new one through dealers & fitted But not happy with the way the part gave out without so much as a knock As far as I,m aware anyway
Its not a part you inspect as such & to find what happened would require crack testing
For those who can remember foot pegs that could be bent backwards & with the application of a bit of heat she was as good as new
Not any more !
