01 headstock bearing adjustment

Just some notes on headstock adjustment

I followed one of the write ups someone did on the site (I’ll link it in here when I find it again)

I pulled the front tank cover off and just the top clamps not the whole bar mount assembly.

With the front cover removed I was able to get a pair of channel locks on the top cap, put a little padding on the teeth (just a soft towel) and was able to get it right off

Here is where the fun came, I started pondering how I was going to adjust that 36mm nut. Then it dawned on me, the old bicycle headsets were adjusted with open end wrenches. Went into my bike toolbox, found the hs wrench, saw the 36mm stamp on it and my grin spanned across my face.

Hand torqued it to the specs I found on the site (its pretty easy to feel what certain torques feel like after doing them for a while)

Went out for a ride and the bike feels great
