The rear brake Caliper on MY SPEED has broken somehow(there are a couple of cracks on it). I am looking into replacing it, has anyone tried replacing them with Brembo's? which exact model fits it?
and I did some welding on my speed's exhaust, what should I do to protect the weld from catching rust?
Yep, I was quite surprised myself. It's actually a second-hand bike and the previous owner did not really maintain this bike well and yes the weld is on the down pipes. The thing is the bike already had a 3-1 arrow exhaust installed but I ordered the CRT END CAN from SC PROJECT. The (entrance)mouth of the mid pipe had a smaller diameter compared to the rest of the pipe so I had to make an external ring to fill the gap between the two pipes and I had to make custom loops for the installation of the springs. So, yeah all of this was welded, I know there is no permanent solution but the place where I live at is quite humid all the time, so I'm just looking for a solution that can last me for a couple of months and then I can redo it if needed again.
and for the calipers, I do not know what to say but there are some prominent cracks on them and for some bizarre reason BREMBO'S would cost me less than NISSIN'S here in India. Hence I'm looking into replacing them with BREMBO'S
in the UK we have FS365 which you normally spray on before riding and after riding (once the bike is cool) which stops rust. Not sure if you can get that over there, or order some over?
You could paint it with heat resistant paint? You can get downpipe paint. That should do the trick, especially if you're not too worried about potentially having to re-do it.
Brembo's may require replacing master cylinder. Another thought is the R version has Brembo's with upgraded suspension. The caliper for that bike may not fit yours.
Just a couple thoughts to be aware of.
Well, that's an insight. I was under the impression that the "R" variant uses NISSIN calipers in the rear as well and as far as changing the master cylinder for the rear brake was concerned, I was quite uncertain about it(coz the technician here at the TRIUMPH showroom said I wouldn't have to change it even with a different caliper) but now that you've mentioned that I might have to change it, I'll take a look into it. The problem here in India is that they do not sell the "R" model for some stupid reason so I can't really see anything in person. But in any case have you seen anyone replace the rear caliper with BREMBO'S, I can't seem to find anything on the internet regarding this. I would have gone for NISSIN but they are extremely expensive here. I can get my hands on BREMBO'S here for half the price of NISSIN ang.
Oh ok so I wasn't wrong on this then. So what should I do next?
Btw I found out these TWO brands that sell high heat ceramic paints , One is VHT and the Other is CERAKOTE CERAMIC COATINGS(https://www.cerakotehightemp.com/)
Which one do you guys suggest?prefer?
