Removed my old bars to find those fiddly S&(*^ inside
Person who designed it this way should be imprisoned, total idiot
How do i remove it because i have to transfer this in order to fit R&G Bar ends, i don't get why bar ends just don't screw on top of the main inner thread, why this is designed in this stupid way
Tried putting bolt in and with super glue....and super glue is not strong enough to keep the bond so the screw just ...unscrews again and that bloody weight stays inside
I had the exact opposite problem. I only wanted to put bar-end mirrors on the bike, but they were supposed to fasten to that small screw hole in the center of the end plug. I had to remove the end-cap first....but when I did the whole damn thing came out...on both sides! I couldn't get them back in. I used lock-tite, and that metal stuff, but I couldn't get the inserts to stay in and I never got that center end-cap screw out of the center hole.
....and for the record...if those are weights, they're the lightest aluminum weights I've ever seen. I don't think they're weights at all....just an insert to allow the fastening of end-caps, bar-end mirrors, or other accessories. The guys at my shop say they're not even supposed to come out. The fact that mine did cost me cash.
I ended up having to buy new bars just to have those inserts so I could attach my mirrors.
I though...what the hell...if I had to buy new bars anyway they might as well be black. The new black R bars look much better on my '12.
I removed my inner bar weights. Drilled and tapped a thread. Reinstalled it into the handle bars...then fitted bar end mirrors. Easy as that. No need to buy new handle bars .
