TL with Triumph SSSA

This is an incredible work of home engineering - a Triumph SSSA mounted into a Suzuki TL. Also features GSXR front end, which is how I found my way accidentally to this thread in the first place!

See the whole thread here - this is no simple bolt in place exercise!

Holy he11 that's an incredible project! From a time/money perspective, seems it would have been easier to start with a salvage 916/955 rather than reverse engineer a Suzuki into a Ducati/Triumph. Even so I'm sure it was a lot of fun!

Wink

A little work and you can get a VFR SSA into a gen 1 SV650. Only cost about $360 used plus some time. The hub is then interchangeable with Triumph SSA.
Very cool looking TL.

That bike is perfect! I bought a brand spanking new TL S in 97 and I still miss it. It was a bad boy. I didn't have all the problems that were reported after it came out and I even considered buying a used one before I got my 07 triple. Back in 97 I was interested in both the TL and the Speed 3. The TL won out and when this past year came around and I got the bug to buy another fast bike I chose the Triumph (no regrets). Still wish I kept the TL S though. I probably would have tried to do something like that by now if I had. Good deals on E-Bay for a Triumph SSSA from time to time. They should have done it in flat black all the way!

From personal experience (from my GSXR front end swap swap) these things are never about the time or the money - I can't speak directly for Sam but would imagine that he enjoys his TL as the primary starting point & also enjoys the creative engineering challenge to end up with something unique. What is really impressive is that while I would perceive the SSSA to be driven by aesthetic value initially, he has taken intense engineering steps to ensure he has a rear end that functions really well.

I can relate with the Triumph - I love the Triumph engine but was not crazy about the handling - the GSXR front end transformed it into something that performs so much better than the original, not to mention looks a whole better (in my biased opinion). I can also honestly say that I got a lot of satisfaction out of doing the project as much as the result.
