What are the options for tuning the 955i engine?

Hi guys,

I have just become a forum member but a fan and rider of the speed triple for many years, I currently have a 2004 Speed Triple SE 955i, i have changed the air filter, put a sport system on it, remapped the ECU and changed the front sprocket. It goes very well too, but I cannot find much information on further tuning options ( in UK ) I would be very interested to hear from any other triple owners that have gone past the basics of endcan and filter etc, I am not too keen on superchargers or turbo chargers, so if anyone has any other ideas.....

Thanks

Taran

I know that some do slight airbox mods as well as simply clean up the intake and exhaust ports...I have been looking into a port & polish as well as maybe messing with the timing(there HAS to be a better setup)...But it is hard to find any info on it..... To me it seems like alot of people that drive triumphs tend to always say, "if you want to go fast, buy a jap."....So be expected to hear it(I have many times)....lol

I saw a S3 in Salt Lake a year back that had been turboed. The owner said it dynoed at 200 hp. That seems pretty scary to begin with. A cheaper alternative might be NOS. But I have no practical experience with either mod.

You forgot the other sarcastic comment "go buy a 1050". Sounds to me you have done the basic bolt on stuff, around here Tune Boy software seems to be the next step for your bike and a good dyno tuning session. I have the same set up on my 03 minus the front sprocket feel mine has plenty of lowend grunt. I am sure someone will chime in with more info or do a search for Tune Boy. I live in the sticks with no shops even knowing about dyno tuning. Hope this helps.

Has anybody used Rapid Bike instead of Tune Boy for ECU programming? If so, how well does it work?

Rapid Bike looks like it has the same problem as a Power Commander...that is, it piggybacks on the ECU. This means more potential failure points; the unit itself & each connection. The Rapid Bike doesn't require splicing @ least.
I'm waiting for the next group buy to get a Tuneboy, I have yet to see a better solution..

Before I knew about TuneBoy, I installed a mechanical ignition advancer, and advanced the timing 5 degrees. My S3 definitely runs stronger than before. You can set the timing with the TB now.
