You can disassemble the stock signals, and then either use the connectors or cut the connectors off.

Some people have used long nosed pliers. But, taking off the tank and airbox really isn't too difficult.

+1
Though I used the connectors, intending to be able to replace the originals, but the resulting cable was huge and looked a mess... so cut it them off and kept them with the stock indicators for if I ever sell the bike.

Thank you guys.....i was looking for a specific link that Legman had sent to someone else....it supposedly explains how to get to the connectors without lifting the tank and airbox....if anyone kows this link or knows Legman, maybe we can find it.....anyway, appreciate the feedback.

carefully, it can be done.
The first time I changed out my front turn signals with some flush mount led's for R 1's I adapted to Triumph connectors . It was easy because I had the tank and airbox off at the time. Then I bought some new Waten design led's for 20 bucks off a guy on E-bay (oh the luck!). I was too lazy to want to take off the tank and airbox a second time within a month (replumbing all the rubber likes is the hardest part) and I managed to carefully and patiently unplug them an replug the new ones. Tools required are one set of small to med size hands, a hooked end piece of wire and mini needle nose plier an open/box end wrench to remove one screw and a 12 pk of suds (I recommend MDG or Ziggenbock). Work from the left side of the bike from under the frame and tank just above the head cover. Remove the bolt holding the wire hose line bracket and push the hoses temporairly out of the way After that you have just enough room to quickly unplug the old ones. I have personal knowlege that it will take you more time to replug the new wires. Work one side at a time. Green +, black -. If your start to curse too loud, start throwing things or the police show up at your door while working on it then you might need to stop and comeback to the project later . It can be done but ultimately taking the tank and airbox off is the easiest. Both ways take time.

stock signals come apart with one little screw. unplug the connectors and attach them to the NEW connectors. Doesn't get ANY easier than that as far as mods go. You might have to cut them to match up the new singal's connectors. Degree of difficulty from 1-10? negative 2

That's what I was referring to. Of course, I decided to make things real hard, being a bit anal. I found the stock connectors online, attached them to the new signals, and plugged them into the bike's connectors.

Agreed!
I was worried about messing with them to get off my rad covers and the ugly red reflector dots on the rear, but after a little tinkering I realized what a piece o' cake they are. Screw comes out, cover comes off, silver reflector bit slides out WITH bulb, connectors off, wires slide out. Bingo
Easier to detach the signal mount first so you can manipulate the whole thing, and remember black wire on the inside and white on the outside!
