Anyone use Fumoto Valve?

http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/

Anyone know the part # or maybe the diameter and pitch of the oil pan bolt?
I have this on my Subaru and Toyota and it helps reducing the mess doing oil change.

Pretty neat but not for a bike that points the valve straight down-one low curb or rock and you are minus one engine!! Be careful!

Why would you want that? Is using a wrench outside your abilities?

Hi,
On a 2005 Bonneville T100 it is M14 x 1.5
I see you have 2 posts so you must be new to the forum. So Welcome
I think you will find many helpful threads here as well as a few USELESS replies to questions. Obviously using a wrench is NOT outside of your abilities as you would need the wrench to change your oil plug for the valve.
It seems like a good ideal to me. I currently have a magnetic plug in my machine as I wish to see if any particles may be coming off of the transmission gears. Thus I won't be using the valve myself anytime soon. I was able to find my original plug and measure it. Like I said, my machine is a 2005 Bonneville T100 and the plug is Metric M14 x 1.5. But you did not mention what machine you have so it is possible yours could be different. I doubt it would be different but I am not 100% sure about that.

Take care

Geimer,

Thanks for the warm welcome
So far I have been lurking around here reading a lot but rarely post.

I'm a noob on Triumph S3, and US motorcycle market in general, but at least, I've done my research on this valve before I start posting useless thread .

I searched on google and only found Kawasaki Ninja owners have used this valve.

I have a '00 Speed Triple 955i.

The reasons why I want the valve:
1. Convenience.
2. Reduce the chance of stripping the thread doing oil changes.
3. Easy to take small sample of oil analysis.

Thanks for letting me know that the oil pan bolt is magnetic. I will reconsider the use of the valve.

For concern such valve will increase the risk of hitting rock/ground, I will check the clearance again on how much lower the valve is going to be compared to the Purolator Pure One PL14610 (longer than OE) that I am currently using.

So far, I haven't experienced any issue of hitting anything with Purolator filter but I will take that as a consideration.

Thanks again for the replies!

You would be surprised how far you can go with oil running out of the bottom of the motor. The tricky part is when you try to turn on a oil soaked rear! Yes I found all these things out the hard way.

But I agree with you, I'd be worried about clearance.

2 cents

Hello again Salaki,
Please don't misunderstand me, you wrote "Thanks for letting me know that the oil pan bolt is magnetic. I will reconsider the use of the valve. "
What I was trying to say in my first post was that the plug I have in my machine right now is a magnetic plug. The original plug was NOT magnetic. You see once I found out that the Bonneville used the same oil for both engine and transmission I thought I would put the magnetic plug in at the next oil change in order to see if it collected any particles from the gears. But that was only 2000 miles ago and I have not changed the oil again since. If I do see any particles sticking to the magnetic portion of the plug I'll post the result.
Anyway I'm not sure about the clearance on an S3 but I am sure you will check that out. Good luck I hope it works for you.

Thanks for clarifying that.

I forgot to confirm whether the drain plug is magnetic on my '00 S3 when I did my oil change 1K miles ago.

Let us know what you find out, maybe some pics on how much metal shavings collected by magnetic drain valve.

BTW, where did you get the magnetic drain valve?
