Help - is it IACV or someting else?

Posted this ealier in Tiger forum but no reply, maybe you other 955i owners can impart some wisdom.

I have an annoying downshifting problem from 4th at 2500 rpm to 3rd, clutch pulled & throttle released but revs hang high momentarily and make the downshift from 4th to 3rd very difficult until the rpm drops and unloads gearbox. Only seems to be on the 4th to 3rd downshift at that rpm.

Clutch cable adjusted to spec, throttle cable adjusted to spec, throttle position sensor reset, no ecu error codes. I can hear the iacv making operating noises when tested but don't know if it is actually doing what it is supposed to be doing.

If I downshift 4th to 3rd at higher rpm it doesn't happen, revs drop immediately when clutch pulled and no gear change resistance, drops right into gear.

I've read that he iacv adjusts not just idle rpm but also affects low rpm range as well. Is this right? Could it be someting else or is this a common trait?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the return spring on the motor side of the clutch cable? Mine broke and I had to fabricate a replacement. Just a thought.

Clutch cable seems fine, plenty of spring return force. But you got me wondering if there is some sticking in the clutch, the kind that makes your rear wheel spin when in neutral while idling on the centre stand.

I used to get clutch plates sticking on my previous bike, would free up when it was started up but you had to make sure the brakes were applied to avoid the forward lurch. Maybe I wll try the front tyre against the wall trick.
