Other Motorcycle: 97 Bandit 600. Sold & missed.
Get my speedy back last Saturday. The hot starting issues are gone. The mechanic said they put the last triumph map that, apparently, resolves the excess of fuel during those first instants.

Let's see how long will it last.

It may be my dumb ass-dyno speaking but I find the low/mid range much more strong with this map! Man! I laugh my socks out everytime I take this bike out!

Need a little help from my fellow Speed Triple owners. 1995 Speed Triple is draining the battery in less than a week. Replaced old battery with new battery and it drained it in about a week. Recharged battery and drained it in about a week. I have ridden it about 20 minutes total. It is draining the battery just sitting in the garage. Any ideas as to the reason or has anybody experienced the same problem. We are heading to Deal's Gap in about 2 weeks so I need to get this figured out.

Thanks.

As far as Common S3 Issues I can add:

1. Poor seat construction -- already showing signs of deterioration/compression towards the tank after just 3000kms. Add to this the general lack of lateral support it gives. At time I think I need the protection of a ball-box!

2. The right-hand oil cooler bracket failed -- spot welding gave way. Still awaiting a replacement part from Triumph SA after some six weeks. Seems they don't have any in the country!

3. Throttle butterfly valves out of sequence causing engine rumbling at low speed. Dealers awaiting high pressure fuel connector & fly lead from Triumph SA. 4 Week delay so far...

Kind of doubt that...

three cylinder engines "rumble" at idle and low revs compared to fours.

Re: Ruumbling @ low revs / throttle butterfly's out of sinc. -- The dealer mechanic picked this problem up and is awaiting a fly lead / fuel pressure pipes from Triumph SA so as to remote the petrol tank and set the butterflies in sequence. Do you think he is barking up the wrong tree, and finding spooks where there are none?

After a week of steady rain my high beams keep turning themselves on.

Also the ignition switch on the clutch is faulty.

Both being fixed under warranty. Waiting for parts.

Firstly, the S3 is fantastic, I have a T509, drool over the 1050

Problems so far;

Battery drain over 2-3 days, traced to incorrect relay installed in lighting circuit.

Earth / return common block melt down, causing intermittent engine management warning light and lights turning themselves off momentarily. New block / re terminated wires.

Coolant in oil after a hugh back-fire on start-up. Engine drained, cleaned and check all OK, but now happened twice in a year. Suspect liners lifting and letting by if bike back-fires. - ongoing

Speedo cable broke at wheel end, replaced with new, now speedo threaded cable connection broke, awaiting new speedo!

BUT STILL LOVE THE S3!

I have an older (03) 955 and the speedo
doesn't work at all on cold days. i have to
warm up bike, turn it off, then back on
again and it usually fixes the problem.

Brembo and Magura are the quality choices. K5/K6 Suzuki GSX-R is the cheapest as these are easily available from eBay. The Suzi calipers are a direct fit for 1050 too.
