2007 Demo Bike... dangerous??

Hey there is a 2007 white S3 for sale and it looks incredible, still sitting at the dealership, but on the listing it says it has low miles and its a demo bike. Would that mean that 1) it wasnt broken in properly and 2) has it just been thrashed for all of its early life.

Really appreciate all of your wisdom and experience, coming from a first time S3 buyer

thanks

Not a clue.
Im also looking at a demo bike my dealer is selling.
I asked and they said all their bikes are run in by their workshop techs before they let anyone demo ride it.
May be the same with yours?

However, i did notice the demo bike I rode had quite some rust/corrosion on the chain & rear shock.
There was some paint missing around the filler cap and the brakes seemed weak.

I wouldn't say it is dangerous, best try it for yourself and see.

Totally dependent on the dealer. Does it look like a professional shop that you can trust did all the proper maintainence or is the service department run by a twenty-year old w/ a bad attitude and pierced lips? Do they supervise their demo rides to make sure customers are repectfull of the machinery, or do they allow people to just joyride to wherever, bouncing off the rev limiter and doing mile long stand-up wheelies at will?

Maybe you should ask for a ride and see if they turn you loose or not. If you trust the dealer, then you can trust that the bike has been well-maintained.

Either way it has a full warranty so if anything does go wrong you get it fixed by them with their dollar.

Check when the last time the counters had been reset, and see the high speed on the bike, could give you something of an indicator. The dealer i just got my bike from had a demo as well, and he was telling me he put the first 1000 miles on the bike himself to break it in.

Well, warranty doesn't apply if there is a major engine failure caused by obvious abuse, so there is at least some cause for caution.

As Reppyboyo says, you should be fine if the bike was run in by their technicians first before anyone test rode it, but all you may have to go on is the dealer's word for that.

I've read, and re-read, not quite sure what to make of it though.

Hmmmm interesting! I heard similar concepts from my best friend's brother who raced AMA and is now a pit crew worker on the supersport circuit.
