I get it, I get it!! <lol><lol>....

For myself and truly with no offense intended to India and Indians, their accomplishments in this country are truly phenominal..they just need to lose that caste system (can you be Hindu without it?) and class system ("gift" from the British repackaged and exported)...but I specifically bought my two Triumphs because of its history, a personal 'quirk' of always wanting to be different and quite pointedly it's Britishness! (whatever that implies). Triumph not being British (or if it really was a poorly made bike) would have me loose interest in it.

If you check out the 'twins' forum there is an enormous and at times quite heated thread about the Thailand Bonnevilles.
Me? I`m not that keen on it but will probably still buy Triumph.
I think it would be a shame if they they started making the triples in India or Indonesia or wherever. Maybe Triumph should try and make a BETTER bike, not a CHEAPER bike. They should concentrate on being more of a 'Niche' marque like Ducati or MVagusta and just charge more for their bikes instead of trying to compete on price with the big four, that`s a battle they will NEVER win. For a long time we have been paying more here for our Triumphs than the equivalent Japanese models and Triumph is still the number one selling European brand. Even the budget Street Triple is more expensive than it`s competiton, ie the Z750 is a $1000 cheaper and it is a much better equipped bike, yet it hasn`t hurt Triumph`s sales figures, the local dealer has pre sold out all his incoming Street Triple stock until June! New ZX6R`s (not a bad bike) are being offered at $2000-$3000 less than the Daytona 675`s but the ZX`s are collecting cobwebs in the showrooms while the buyers are queing up for the 675.
If I was a 'Scrooge' and was worried about the purchase price I`d buy a Hyosung Comet.

Believe me, I share your sentiments completely. The problem is that the business decision makers usually put profits before patriotism. Triumph resurrected itself as being the original British marque for appealingly unique motorcycles. Along with its brutish looks and hooligan engine characteristics, one of the main reasons I purchased the S3 was its British genes. Previously, I said it wouldn't matter where the bike was made as long as it performed and was reliable. However, I have to be honest. If the bike were made completely in another country for cheap labor purposes, I think the cachet aspect of Triumph ownership would be negatively affected.

Just my $.0002 (inflation):

We talking built in England, or parts made in England? In my mind, these are two entirely different things. Parts can come from anywhere, but where the vehicle is put together is really what matters.
