Had a battery go south on me a few weeks ago and after checking the charging system found some weird readings. 2002 Speed Triple with 37K on the clock. System is charging 14.2 at idle but when held at 4500 rpm it is only chaging 13.1. Swapped voltage reg to no effect. All three legs of stator not grounded or shorted and even on AC voltage output. AC voltage decreases as engine rpm is raised. This is something I have never seen on any similar charging system. Anyone ever seen anything like this before? Any wise words of wisdom?

Not sure if you received an answer or got it fixed but I have a similar problem on my 05 Sprint. I'm going to add the mod as described in the following thread.
Check it out, it has an interesting solution to the problem you are decribing.
