Well I'm thinking of doing the Tour de la Gaspesie in Quebec and wondering what type of setup I need to bring a tent and sleeping bag etc with me for the trip.
I was looking at a tailbag but I'm not sure if its gonna be enough ?
This is the one I was thinking, just for the tent and sleeping bag. I do have a backpack that I used for my trip I just did to Ottawa, 6 day trip, pretty awesome.
The tent would be around 18in x 6in, not sure if it would fit in the tailbag and if maybe I should just bungie it to the bike. I really don't want to scratch the rear fender.
Yes I will certainly miss my speed triple, I'll probably go for a new one in a few years. That Ducati is pretty awesome. I can give a ride report if you guys wants it, I know this is a triumph forum.
In the looks department I think the Ducati is the best looking naked out there with the new 16 Speed Triple. When I first got on the bike I was surprise by how light it felt, the digital gauge is hard to read in the sun. Riding position is in between my 07 speed triple and the 12 street triple I had. The speed being a little more forward than the ducati and sitting a little more inside the machine rather than on top like the speed triple but its pretty similar, just a little different.
Riding the Monster its very comfortable, although the seat is hard like a rock but that doesn't bother me much as the seat is narrow and strangely enough even if its hard felt comfortable. The bike feels light when riding it, its almost like a street triple but with lots more power. The clutch is fantastic and engage as soon as you let the lever go. Tranny felt nice and precise. There is a bit of vibration from the engine which I love, that's the way I like my motorcycles with character. The vibration is a little more pronounce than on my 07 S3 but its different as the S3 buzzes more while the duc well its a twin so...
Neutral was hard to find which is similar to my S3. Handling is pretty awesome on that thing, it just eats the curves with precision and the torque of the bike is really impressive. I didn't try it much as it was in breakin but I did pass two cars while giving it a little more gas and it just blast in front of them. The engine sound is fantastic when you give her a bit of gas but too quiet for my taste stock, with the termis it will surely sound pretty good. As far as sound goes obviously its just different, the S3 is amazing and the 1200R is amazing as well.
All in all an amazing bike the 1200R, love the look of it, the power delivery is smooth and is more than needed for the streets, throttle is much smoother than my 07 S3. The bike handles very well, the suspension, brakes etc are all pretty awesome. I personally don't have a preference when it comes between the S3 and the Ducati as they are both amazing bikes but they are just different.
Oh and I wasn't supposed to trade the bike as I still love my S3 but they gave me 6k for my 07, dropped the price 1k on the duc and remove the freight and delivery as well as 720$ of the termis with installation included which is 1200 instead of 1920$. I got to say my 07 is like new so....
Edit: One thing I forgot to mention about the 1200R that I didn't like its the position of the pegs being close to the exhaust, I like at times to put my feets backward on the pegs during longer rides and I noticed that it touch the exhaust if I do it, the termis will hopefully fix that.
Yeah its a pretty amazing bike, I didn't consider anything else other than the S3 and the Ducati, I think the other naked are just ugly, just my opinion
One problem I've had with the Street Fighter and all of the new, big Monsters is the exhaust interference with my right heel. I like to ride on the ball of my feet, which pushes my heel up and back...right into the exhaust.
The 1200R is the first one I can live with. Ducati changed the passenger foot rest mount on the R which gives more room. My right heel still touches the exhaust heat shield....but it just touches...it doesn't interfere.
