Vtwin for the Stable???

Thinking about a VTwin as a stable mate for Speedy, Tossing up between the Aprilia Tuono ( STD Version, Can't afford the factory ) and the KTM Superduke R version, Both around the same price $25,000 NZ. As an ex RSV Mille owner I can certainly vouch for the Rotax powerplant, But not to sure on the looks!! But seeing the KTM in person man that thing looks wicked!! Flat black, Orange frame, High spec Suspenders etc etc, Been reading quite a bit on both bikes so the overall view is, The Tuono is gruntier but with lower spec suspenders ( Really only a bother on the track ) And the KTM is really built as a track bike ( Only a bother on the road ) I'm taking an 07 Superduke STD for a test ride and the dealer also stocks Aprilia so I'll try them back to back. Anyone experienced either bike???

No experience with either one but V-twin sportbikes do rock! Especially their engine and exhaust sounds.

My brother-in-law's Superduke is an absolute kick in the pants! Nothing I've ridden is as flickable or fun, including my Speed Triple. However, it's not a long distance kind of bike. It has a relatively narrow focus, but what a wonderful corner carver! My only experience with Aprilia was on a Falco. It was fun but lacked the gumption the Tuono seems to have. So, my bias is for the KTM.

KTM wins it for me. Both are butt ugly rides, but SuperDuke performance (especially handling) is superior.

Both handle much better than Speedy. The Triple is a bit of a top heavy fat girl in comparison.

I have a Ducati SS 1000DS as well as the Speedy.
Its a joy having the choice of styles and engines.
Somedays I love the Duc with its Vtwin characteristics and noise and the next love the Speedy.
Bit of chalk and cheese, but great non the less!

I've heard the Superduke R is quite the beast.
The Tuono seems real ugly IMO.

I get to ride the SuperDuke pretty often because a friend of mine has one and we're always swapping bikes when we ride together: the SuperDuke is great, better than Speedy in terms of suspensions and brakes, but it's really difficult to take it easy with the Duke, and the bike takes a little more effort to drag a knee on the road (if you're into that..), because of the seat height I assume. It also vibrates more. Overall I prefer Speedy (more friendly), but I love the KTM.
Never ridden the ugly Tuono.

Now, don't forget the 1098!

1098 is a bit out of my price range Max, And I prefer upright riding more these days, I had an 02 Mille but could only ride it for 3-4 hours at a time then a Radox bath!!!! I agree on the KTM, The WP suspenders seem to be worlds away from the Speedy.

My riding group has a Tuono, Super Duke, Monster S4Rs and 4 new gen S3s.
The duke is a favorite among the group. The Tuono seems to be a bit high strung for a twin. Doesn't have the down-low power you expect from a twin.

My vote: +1 Duke.
