Every thing is good including pillion comfort if she fits the seat/footpegs and isn't scared of a hard seat.

The BONUS is your neck workout at high speed!

I'd say this bike is very comfortable for passengers. Most sportbikes have the uncomfortable tilt making anyone on the back practically fall onto the rider (which I'm sure most don't mind too much )

I've been happiest with this bike all around (obviously!)

I'd have to say if she's scared of a hard seat she shouldn't be riding on the back of a motorcycle... let alone an S3!!

I currently ride a first gen FZ1 everyday. The only thing I don't like about it is that the mini fairing directs all the wind right at my neck, creating a lot of noise and turbulence, even with the windshield cut down. Of course that mini fairing does block a lot of wind on chest/torso. I am planning to get a new bike and the S3 is at the top of my list. I have ridden the previous model (maybe a '99), but it's been awhile. My only concern with the S3 with the windblast. How is it at commuting speeds (between 40-70mph), especially in the winter (I ride all year here in GA)?

I really think it will be my next bike, but any input would be nice, thanks in advance.

AT 40-70 is OK. I have it still unfaired, so no buffeting at base of helmet - clean, laminar flow as you get on totally naked bike. I'm riding it only for a week, but this week we had pretty good spread of temperatures in Atlanta so I tested it in different conditions. I have flyscreen+visor from Street Triple on order, this supposedly extends upper speed comfort to 90 - we will see.

I commute on mine and find it comfortable at speeds up to 80 or 90mph depending on wind strength. Today was a little windy (20mph sustained, gusts to 35/40) and I was quite happy at 80mph. I got to about 110 but that was too much so slowed down.

Your best bet is to get a day or half day test ride and see what you think.

thanks for the replies. I was out shopping today - my local dealer said he wasn't sure he would get any 08s at all this year. It that normal?

Have you had a chance to install the flyscreen and provide feedback? I'm looking to ride between 40-70 too and am worried about the wind blast that I keep hearing about. Although I have only ridden Harley's and they've never had windscreens but I'm assuming because this is a sport bike that it's designed differently, any input would be greatly appreciated. My dealer has a $1000 off MSRP or 3.9% financing now to make room for the 2008. Thank in advance.

Yes, I have installed the windscreen from Street Triple (not Speedy). It helps a lot, but not in the way some people expect. I get the direct windblast moved to upper 1/3 of torso, with diffused air coming below. First time after I've installed flyscreen I felt like I have not zipped my jacket to the top - this was because I felt airflow only at the top.
I summary - I am fully comfortable to approx 80mph, start feeling blast above ~85mph, still OK up to 90. For most riding this is normal range.
