Just purchased a fly screen for my '01. Its the screen with the bubble as pictured here. Waiting for it in the mail. I will probably have to hunt around for some hardware for it as it was an ebay buy. I imagine it's a pretty straightforward install but would like to get feed back from anyone who has done one concerning:
-what hardware works best.
-any install quirks
-problems I might avoid
-tips/tricks

Also putting a cowl on. I boughtt a black colormatched shell brand new from a dealer(no inards) and another complete cowl on ebay that was the wrong color but had the inards. I'm just going to swap out the inards to the black one. I'm going to need to buy hardware (screws) for this one to as the stuff they used was obviously not correct and they didn't even have screws in all the attactment points. Hardware suggestion would be great.

Thanks,

Lee

The flyscreen mounts to the back of your speedo/meters using existing hardware. Hopefully, You should not need anything different. Worst case, you'll need the same screws that are 5mm longer is all. I'd purchase some blue locktite as it is humanly impossible to tighten the third mounting screw. (brilliant design).

The seat cowl only attaches to the hardware with plastic screws (they look amazingly just like wood screws). I can't imagine you'd need anything that special to make that work.

To make my seat cowl fit the bike better, I purchased a few washers and shimmed the latch on the sub-frame. My (and my buddies) seat cowl would contact the rear fender. Putthing the washer under the latch made it play nice.

I also used my trusty dremel to cut out the center of the black plastic undertray of the seat cowl so I have a much greater storage capacity.

Fret not, padawon learner, install is easy-cheesy-japaneesy

Yup Yup,

The seat cowl install is a you said pretty straigthforward. Great idea dremmelling the seat cowl pan. Too bad the "engineers" at triumph didn't come up that one and constrruct a purpose built cowl pan that receeds for more storage. It only makes sense that if you are losing the seat you should get more storage as there's really nothing going on in there to prevent it. To be honest I was surprised when I fitted the component and found no more storage space than with the stock pillion.

The only other thing I may do is fit son rubber grommets to keep those button-head screws from scratching the paint on the cowl.

Fly Screen,

Asked about this because the fellow I purchased it from said there is supposed to be a spacer included that I will not be getting. We'll give a try and see what happens.

Cheers and feel to relay any further tips.

Finally put my cowl on. Ending up using size 6 3/4" sheet metal screws butted against a rubber washer to protect the paint and plastic screwcovers to hide the silver screws and smooth over and sharp edges. Comes out looking like this

Under the covers . . .

Washers to shim the seat latch make this function as it should.

Everything still fits flush

What color is the extra seat cowl shell you have? Would you be willing to sell it? Thanks.
