2008 Honda CB1000R - Another Naked Bike

Since Triumph invented the factory street fighter in 1994, nearly every brand has been bringing out their version of the naked sportbike. Honda just released photos of their 2008 CB1000R, probably to be called the Hornet in Europe. It appears to have some Speed Triple 1050 design elements, and the new trendy low slung exhaust pipe, although that headlight is something only a mother (Hornet) could love!

What you do think?

If the CB1000R is a hornet, then the Benellit TnT is a praying mantis:

I only see the Benelli, too.

I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to ride the Benelli 2 weeks ago, it`s a total bag of nails compared to the Triumph. The motor is ROUGH and I can`t figure out why it doesn`t have the grunt of the speed triple. The MV 910 Brutale is the same price and twice the bike. The Speed triple is significantly cheaper and also twice the bike. It`s a real Turkey I`m afraid and will be bought by people who love it`s looks, want to be different and don`t mind waiting 6 months for a replacement oil filter to turn up.

OK, I`m editing now and I can see the CBR1000 pics. I must say, I LOVE the wheels. It`s a good looking bike. Not as good looking as a Speed Triple, though.

I think that Honda looks cool. I especially dig the rims. I'd wait to see the performance numbers and general stats on that Honda before I give it a thumbs up though. Somehow I doubt it has the torque of the S3. Honda makes racing bikes and I doubt they developed a whole new engine just for this "Hornet" which means the performance will most likely be more super bike feel to it....high revs, no balls taking off from a dead top, etc. My CBR1000rr felt like it wanted to die from a dead stop at a light when I took off.....I love how the S3 just lunges forward with little effort from a dead stop.

I'm just stoked there's more and more naked bikes coming out! I don't get all pissy that they aren't Triumphs. I'm so sick of crotch rockets and Harleys and V-Stars and such. The American motorcycle world needs new life, new blood. It's stale as can be and naked bikes are the new wave. They've been around for quite awhile, but just now starting to shake things up. The fact that Japan, Korea, etc all want to join in on the naked bike craze is cool! Competition among all makers will benefit the riders....new technology, creative looks, etc.

The Honda`s wheels look great but thats it.
Honda really needs to ditch those AWFUL exhausts.

Looks like some random metal block they just slapped on there, bring back under tail exhausts tbh.

I really like the look of the Honda except the mid section looks to bulky. As long as I have been a naked bike fan, the options have been limited. Just glad to see more out there.

That exhaust and headlight are hideous. Strip half of that plastic garbage off of there and you probably have a really solid bike. The CBR1000 motors rip. Ditto the previous remarks on the TNT, nice concept, looks really cool (in my opinion) and has the Benelli name to help it stand out...otherwise, (also in my opinion) almost unrideable.
