New Speed Triple Or.......?
I recently crashed my 955i and am going to get a new Triumph. I can get a great deal on an '07 Speed Triple or Daytona 675. I am partial to the Speedy because of the engine, and partial to the 675 for the wind protection over 100 mph. Can I get some feedback on the Speed Triple side as to what you guys have done for wind protection that works for highway set up? Thanks!!

Wind protection on a Speed triple simply doesn't exist....period. I came from a bike with a full fairing (CBR1000rr) and the wind blast was a shock at first, but got VERY used to it. As they say.... "Harden the 'F' Up."
With my CBR I would regularly, maybe a few times per day, hit speeds of 150 to 160 in spurts on my long commute home. With the Speed Triple I hit 120 on a regular basis but it's just not comfortable so tend to cruise on average of 85-100. No fairing prevents me from rocketing down the freeway and will save my life. lol

Givi make a windscreen that's functional but not attractive, from what I've read.
Regarding your dilemma: How many times do you go over 100? How many times do you use the engine?
(But hey, I have to recommend the S3 -- I'm buying one!)

I prefer no protection. That's one of the reasons I bought it. Sure, above 100 it gets pretty hairy, but that's part of the charm, and I don't spend extended time there anyway, even on the track. If you are trying to be competitive, where you have to get every last mph from better aerodynamics, then you may want to get something else.

I don't spend extended periods of time over 100 mph, but usually every ride I will wring the neck of what ever it is I'm riding until I soil myself. 150/160 on a CBR?!?!?! The fastest I had my 955i was 145 and she had plenty left, I didn't. I like the point about the wind blast keeping me alive longer. Great stuff.

Dude 150-160 on a CBR is not bad...I've had it to 170 and it STILL had more. Stock is like 180mph, this bike was modded.

Fly Screen?
What about the optional flyscreen? Does it do much? I'm also interested in getting an S3, but unlike Aske, I have NO plans to get rid of my Sprint; it's a keeper!

Yikes! You must live in the wide open spaces to get that much speed up. That '08 CBR looks to be a real beast and is very tempting, but I know that poor bike would have hardening of the oil passages with me on it. In regards to the other comment on how often do I use that power, I've been thinking. I can never really use the top end on my 904 Bonnie, which gives me about 135 mph. It sort of is a Speed Twin. But that is the bike I want to have forever and want one to really thrill me mostly around town. While the D675 may let me use its potential better, I am just partial to the bare knuckle look of the S3. Are there any decent windsreens to keep the wind of the chest or tucked in helmet?

ALL the windscreens available for the S3 are about 90-95% cosmetic with any wind buffering being highly unnoticable.

TBH the wind blast isn't that bad once you get used to it. I was up at 120 yesterday and just crouched lower over the tank so I'm offering less resistance. Would have gone faster but ran out of road
Check the hooligan pics for top speed indicators. This bike does it all - looks fook'n hard, sounds even better and goes like greased weasel sh1t. It handles well round town and opens up quickly for motorways. I covered 160 miles of motorway a while back and it cruises very happily at 90+, with plenty left for the 'oops, that's the junction and I need to get past those cars' moments
Have a try of one, give it some welly and try different positions. It's all good, no doubts from me.
