Question Rear wheel removal.......now how does that go?

How do you remove the rear wheel? I would appreciate blow-by-blow instructions as I am The Mechanical Numpty brought down to Earth and made (nearly) human.

Remove lockring from nut, stand on rear brake while cracking nut a bit loose with a breaker bar, support bike on rearstand (or lean left on sidestand + slip a block of wood under suspension linkage), undo nut all the way.

Job jobbed.

You need a 46mm socket and a breaker bar. When retightening, torque to 146 Nm or 107 Ft lbs.

You may need to unbolt your end can so the wheel will have room to get out.

No. You are probably talking about the lockring on the nut. You can use it plenty of times. No reason to take everything you read in shop manual literally.

Have a go at removing the wheel and it will all make sense.

Maybe you're thinking of the Stake Nut on the left hand side. You are sposed to replace that after removing, but I reused mine. 146 Nm isn't coming undone by itself. NFW!

Replacing circlip?

I asked my local service manager and he did not recommend it. I did the same job recently, and boy, a 3/4" drive handle and 46mm socket sure makes removal easy!

It seems that using a 1/2" drive impact wrench to remove the nut would be a heck of lot easier!

It's a spring clip, and you can reuse it many times. I use a small zip to safety tie the clip so it won't ever come off.
