Which frame sliders - front or back?

I'm looking into buying frame sliders to protect my bike from another fall. I've seen a number of pictures of Speedy's with frame sliders located just below the frame near the rider's knees, and others showing them mounted behind the radiator. Which is best at protecting the bike in a fall - or are they both equally effective?

I second that, I've got RG's near my knees, I'm gonna get another pair for the front.

I have both, and both are Skyking. After putting them on, and experiencing a low speed low side, I am pretty certain that the rears are redundant. However, I keep fearing that the front ones are more suseptable to damaging the engine mount under high stress, due to them sticking out so far. Other makers are closer in, IIRC. Even so, If I was to keep only the front or the rears, I am not certain what I would do. The rears are real close to my knees, which touch them at times. I have debated replacing them with something like the LSL sliders, which use an offset position away from your knees, and that also gives the advantage of putting less stress directly on the engine mount. They don't stick out as far as most others I've seen, which means they might not protect as well. Not a clear cut decision, methinks.

yeah, goffe's bike is the one that inspired me to get the additional set in front...(Goffe, I hope you don't mind my linking pictures you posted from another thread)

I've already got RG's on and buying another pair of those shortly. I believe they won't stick out as far as Goffe's but not certain.

Alternatively I could buy LSL for the back and move the back RG's to the front, but I'm not really confident that the LSL's will protect as well as the RG's or Skyking's...

Does anyone with LSL's want to comment on this?

I have LSL's...

Well, unfortunatey I put mine on AFTER my little "off", but I'll say this. The LSL are the least intrusive into the knee area due to the offset mount when mid-mounted. IMHO they can't or shouldn't be mounted near the radiator because they wouldn't stick out enough. I had them there first and moved them to the mid-mount position. Knees do not hit 'em. I like that they also look fairly subtle compared to the longer tubed-shaped ones that may protect better, ala Skyking.

That said, my next priority are fork sliders, which I have on order.

When I had my 'off', sliders on the forks and sliders mid-mounted near the frame would have pretty much protected eveything when combined with the passengers pegs (a nice way to protect your dual cans) and the stock bars ends (which held up surprisingly well).
Hope this helps,
